Contractors prequalified for the light rail project
There have been great interest in bidding on the upcoming light rail between Lyngby and Ishøj. Both larger and smaller construction companies are among those selected to have the possibility to win a contract on building and operating the light rail.
Many construction companies are interested in building and operating the Copenhagen Light Rail. The recently completed prequalification of contractors proves that.
Copenhagen Light Rail received no less than 55 applications to perform one or more of the eight contracts, that the construction have been divided into, and the board have now approved the selection of the construction companies that will be getting the opportunity to bid on the contracts.
A thorough process gave good applications
It comes to five construction contracts, that a total of three to four construction companies will be able to bid on. In addition, there will be a contract for the transportation system for four bidders as well and a contract to build the control and maintenance center also for four bidders. And also, there will be three tenderers for the operation contract.
“We are very happy with the applications we have received for prequalification. It has been a broad field of both large and small, Danish and foreign companies, and we are convinced that the selected contractors are well able to live up to the demands that this project requires of the contractors”, says Project Director of the Copenhagen Light Rail, Patrik Magnusson.
He is happy about the fact that the thorough process with preparing the companies, that started with a very well attended supplier’s day in October of 2015, has been a success considering the many good applications.
The tender material will be published after the summer
The parliament have recently approved the construction law for the Copenhagen Light Rail, and the tender material is expected to be provided for the bidders after the summer, when the external examination has been concluded.
Then, from the beginning of 2017 there will be ongoing negotiations with the prequalified bidders.
The winners of the contracts are expected to be selected in the end of 2017, where the owners will be considering the offers.
